Free and discounted entry for locals
Locals enjoy free and discounted entry thanks to the support of these councils:

The Museum’s Community Pass program provides free and discounted entry to the Museum for residents from several Local Government Areas.
Residents from the Hinchinbrook and Charters Towers areas receive free entry, while Townsville and Burdekin locals pay half price entry.
FREE DAY FOR TOWNSVILLE AND BURDEKIN LOCALS
Townsville and Burdekin locals receive free entry on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding public holidays and school holidays. Our regular Discover More Talks are held on the second Tuesday of most months, so Townsville and Burdekin locals who'd like to come to the talks can get in for free.
All local visitors aged 16+ must present identification as proof of their residential address to be eligible for free entry. One show of identification per group is not sufficient.
The Community Pass program commenced in 2003 and involves all of the immediate Local Government Areas in the Townsville region including Townsville City Council, Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Charters Towers Regional Council and Burdekin Shire Council.
