Museum of Tropical Queensland will reopen with a bang on Saturday 8 May with an action-packed free, community event thanks to World Science Festival Queensland.

To celebrate the completion of our extensive roof works, we will host the ever-popular City of Science: Townsville where everyone is invited to visit the museum and explore the wonders of science.

Bookings for the event are essential, further information will be released soon.

Annual Pass holders

Annual Pass holders will receive early access to the museum from Tuesday 27 April to Thursday 6 May to enjoy all our permanent galleries including Pandora and the ever-popular Sciencentre.

Further information will be released closer to the date.

All Annual Pass holders that expired on or after 23 March 2020 will be automatically extended to accommodate the closure period. Visit here for more information.

Teachers and Schools

North Queensland schools are also invited join in celebrations and participate in a free, dedicated event World Science Festival Queensland Student Day on Friday 7 May.  The event features talks from leading scientists and amazing activities for STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) learning.


The museum will be open for regular facilitated and self-led school groups from Monday 10 May 2021. 


Key dates for your calendar:

    From Sunday 9 May 2021 onwards the museum will be open with regular admission prices and continued free entry for Annual Pass holders. More information on visiting the museum will be released shortly.
