Travelling exhibitions for schools

North Queensland schools are invited to take advantage of the latest travelling exhibitions at Museum of Tropical Queensland.

Now on Connections across the Coral Sea

Connections across the Coral Sea highlights the rich relationships of ancient First Nations communities through trade, customs and connections. Teachers and students will discover stories, language and artefacts from the seafaring cultures of southern New Guinea, Torres Strait and the east coast of North Queensland.

This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the earliest movements and international trade across the Coral Sea Cultural Interaction Sphere through investigation of loaned artefacts, modern archaeological research, and objects from the Queensland Museum collection.

This exhibition links to the Australian Curriculum for Years 4, 5 and 6 in the subject areas of HASS, Design and Technologies, Visual Arts and Science.

Connections across the Coral Sea also links to the QCAA Senior Syllabus for Years 11 and 12 in the subject areas of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, Ancient History, Biology, Economics and Visual Art.

Schools can book a guided introduction to add a unique facilitated experience to their visit.

Guided Introduction: Connections across the Coral Sea
Availability: Term 1 2022
Audience: Years 4-12
