Our Home

What does your home mean to you?

Our Home is a display of art works created by refugee students from Africa and Myanmar who now attend Townsville State High School.

The students were asked to explore and share their personal histories through art and they looked at the question of "home" and what it meant to each of them - where is it, what is it and who is it for.

The purpose of this project was to promote and celebrate multiculturalism and further strengthen a sense of community and belonging through the arts.

It also provided a platform for these young people to express themselves and to be understood and appreciated despite linguistic barriers.

Many thanks to Danni Bruch, Linda Davis and Juanita Poletto for making this display possible.

Special Event: Celebrating Our Home

The museum will hold a special community morning on Saturday, 10th October from 10am-12pm.  There will be a series of dances and singing by these remarkable young artists as well as an opportunity to meet them. Come down and say hello!
