These holidays’ kids can take advantage of creative maker space building challenges and go on an adventurous scientific trail through Ancient Rome: The Empire that Shaped the World.

Use your design skills and the inspiration of the Ancient Rome machines to solve engineering and building challenges. Different design challenges every day. This is a walk-up activity and not facilitated.

WEEK ONE - Early Engineers

Monday 20 - Friday 24 September
10-11am and 12-1pm

Combine creativity and science in these fun, facilitated workshops by getting hands on building catapults, screws, wheels and other Roman machines using simple, everyday materials. 

Along the way, you’ll discover some amazing facts and been blown away by the genius of Ancient Rome.

  • All material provided and machines can be taken home.
  • Ideal for children aged 5 years and above. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Ticket prices excludes museum admission.

WEEK TWO - Gladiator School

Monday 27 September – Friday 1st October
10-11am and 12-1pm

Welcome to the Ludus Magnus, the largest and finest Gladiator school in Ancient Rome. Here you will undergo training to become a Gladiator!

Construct your own helmet, develop your combat moves before taking up your shield and sword and entering a packed Colosseum for one last photo opportunity.

  • All material provided and helmet can be taken home.
  • Ideal for children aged 5 years and above. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Ticket prices excludes museum admission
