This month underwater film maker Max Gleeson will be talking about one of the most popular shipwrecks in the Truk Lagoon (now named the Chuuk Lagoon) in MicronesiaTouted as one of the world's best wreck diving sites, below the surface it is a field of sunken ships, tanks, trucks and military objects from the World War II era.

Chuuk lagoon was the largest Navy base for the Japanese outside of Japan in World War II. It was such a strategic target it was once considered for an atomic bomb. But in February 1944 the US Navy attacked the base over two days, sinking over 40 ships in the lagoon. One of those vessels was the San Francisco Maru.

The wreck is popularly known as the 'Million Dollar Wreck' because of the value of its military cargo. Join Max as he takes you on a journey from stem to stern on this magnificent shipwreck.
