Free Entry for Locals Day

Tuesday 11 June | 9.30am-5pm

As well as a wide range of interactive exhibitions and displays, everyone can enjoy a full day at the Museum with these talks, activities and tours:

- Families can start their day with Beau's Buddies at 9.45am. Designed for children under six years of age, this led-activity starts with a new object being revealed and discussed. Children learn about object, hear a related story and join in craft activities. 

- Discover more with the Museum's Senior Curator, Maritime Archaeology Dr Maddy McAllister at 12pm when she talks about the history of underwater archaeology.

- Be a scientist, explore and challenge your ideas in Sciencentre

- Discover the secrets of Queensland's greatest collections in the Museum's latest exhibition Natural Curiosity

- This is the last chance to see Hard Labour for Sweet Fields: the history of sugar in the Ingham region for free before it ends in July.

- Meet our volunteer taxidermy team from 10-1pm. The taxidermists love talking to visitors and answering their questions on taxidermy and bird/wildlife conservation. 

- Discover more about the HMS Pandora and the tragic tale of the ship sent to capture the Bounty mutineers in guided tours at 11am and 1.30pm.

Entry is free to the Museum on Tuesday 11 June for Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers and Hinchinbrook residents as part of the monthly 'Free for Locals Day'. Proof of residency required. Entry is also free for Annual Pass holders.

Free for Locals Day for Townsville and Burdekin residents occur on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding school and public holidays.

Hinchinbrook and Charters Towers residents receive free entry all year round.
