Enhance a unit of work by getting hands-on with actual specimens or add a fun and educational experience to your camp itinerary with a visit to the Museum of Tropical Queensland, Townsville.

The Museum of Tropical Queensland offers permanent exhibitions on the HMS Pandora, Queensland dinosaurs and fossils, the deep sea, coral reefs, mangroves, Paluma rainforest and life in the tropics. The Museum also hosts a variety of temporary exhibitions through the year. You can experience the Museum through either a self-led or Museum Learning Officer led program.

School Admission Prices

Teachers and support staff and parents are admitted free at a ratio of 1:5 (1:4 for Early Childhood). Our staff will invoice your school on the day of visit, or you can choose to pay on the day.

Led Programs

The Museum offers a range of programs which support the Australian Curriculum. We can also tailor a curriculum or non-curriculum based program that suits your group’s particular needs. Please get in touch through the School Inquiry form to discuss options.  

Led programs run from 45 minutes to 90 minutes for one class of up to 25 students at a time.
